Our company has completed a project for a glass laboratory photobioreactor of 5 liters. For our customers, this bioreactor was an ideal solution for the cultivation of aquatic organisms, namely cells and tissues of micro- and macroalgae.
Some short information about photobioreactors. A photobioreactor is an equipment that is used to grow various photosynthetic microorganisms, usually green algae: cyanobacteria, macroalgae of gametophyte, moss, eukaryotic microalgae, etc.
Sometimes cultivation takes place continuously, with daily renewal, sometimes periodically. The principle of operation and the construction of photobioreactors time vary depending on the requirements of a research or production institution.
In the case of our client, it was necessary to create special conditions in the bioreactor that were necessary for cultivation process:
- optimal light transmission, without which it is impossible to grow green algae;
- efficient mixing, thanks to which access to light is provided to the entire culture in the bioreactor;
- maintaining the correct temperature, which is achieved through the development of an efficient cooling system.
We designed the photobioreactor for our client, so that it could meet all the requirements of the client and the conditions of his cultivation.
